Sportline 555 Women's Calorie Tracking Fitness Watch Review

Sportline 555 Women's Calorie Tracking Fitness Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The watch is decent for the price. Like other reviews stated, it is very complicated to use. While using the calorie counter during a workout, the calorie counter would stop working. It was set to beep after 30 seconds of inactivity and beeped a lot even though I was on the treadmill working out at a steady pace. After 1 hour of walking/running on the treadmill the watch had said that I had been active for 25 minutes. It has where you can choose a preset workout paces during your workout or set your own. The down side being that if you change paces, then you have to change it on the watch. In order to change it on the watch you would basically have to stop your workout. Especially if you do interval training. For what it was intended to do and for what I wanted to use it for, it is basically useless, however it makes a good every day watch and the other functions work well.

Timex Men's T5F251 Ironman 30-Lap Velcro Fast Wrap Strap Watch Review

Timex Men's T5F251 Ironman 30-Lap Velcro Fast Wrap Strap Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This watch has worked out to be what I was looking for. I like a digital watch which is easy to read and includes the ability to see at night. This watch has a lot of flexability and allows you to organize how many different time zones you want to display. If you dont need three, then you can turn one or two off. Same with the other options, if you dont need them right now, you can turn them off so you dont have to scroll through all the alternatives. The Indiglo function is great for night vision. The size of the numbers is good for me to see easily and the buttons are organized and labeled well to see which function to use. And the velcro watch band is great. That is almost my favorite part of this watch.

Timex IRONMAN Sleek 150-Lap Watch Full-Size Review

Timex IRONMAN Sleek 150-Lap Watch Full-Size
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been using Timex Ironman watches for more than 20 years. I love them and never wear anything else.
I bought this one for two reasons:
1.) The display is big and easier to read during workouts than some of my other watches;
2.) I like new gadgets.
I took the watch for my first swim workout and during a 2,000 yard swim, the stopwatch randomly recorded a split 87 times. Sometimes, it would record a split every 5-10 seconds, for no reason.
I attribute this to either the tap screen being defective or there is a small leak in the watch, which will eventually destroy the watch.
Otherwise, the watch is just about like every other Ironman watch, though I really do like the large display and the tap-screen function is kind of cool and allows for mindless split recording in the middle of a workout or a race.
I have contacted the seller for a replacement and will post an update when I get a new one.
***MARCH 13, 2010 UPDATE***
I received my second watch from the seller. It too has the same flaw. As I told them in an email - Timex has a fundamental design flaw with the Tap Screen: Even at the highest tap setting, when you swim, unless you place your arm gently in the water on each swim stroke, it records that stroke as a tap i.e. a lap. Obviously, this is useless to a triathlete.
I actually live about 15 miles from Timex headquarters. It is a great company, with great people. Timex supports local races that I compete in and I have nothing bad to say about it as a company. I just can't believe that it would release a watch for TRIATHLETES that does not work in the water. It took me exactly five minutes each with two separate watches to determine that the tap screen technology is flawed. How did this product ever make it out of testing???
This is simply an unfortunate mistake by Timex.
If you are just running and/or biking, the watch may be OK. If you are a triathlete, avoid this watch like the plague. I just wish I could give it zero stars.***MARCH 27, 2010 UPDATE***
The seller of this product - Clever Training - is great. They were very cooperative and after the second watch was returned, issued a full refund. I would definitely do business with them again. (Though I think Timex should reimburse me for the shipping charges to send back two of their defective watches.)

This watch continually has problems. The watch apparently locks up if it encounters any static (back panel is part of the HR sensor). Sometimes it totally freezes, other times the buttons just lock but the watch keeps working. Not recommended at all Good idea, but lousy execution. I only paid $25 for mine and it was too much. If I find instructions on how to reset, I'll also post here.

Suunto X10 Wrist-Top GPS Computer Watch with Altimeter, Barometer, Compass, and GPS Review

Suunto X10 Wrist-Top GPS Computer Watch with Altimeter, Barometer, Compass, and GPS
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I owned a Vector for at least 10 years and am having to go back to it as Suunto has had my X 10 more than I have over the last 8 months. I have sent it in twice the last time in Nov for the case coming apart. First time button cover came off. Cannot believe I paid $400 for this. Makes me question Suunto.

Click Here to see more reviews about: Suunto X10 Wrist-Top GPS Computer Watch with Altimeter, Barometer, Compass, and GPS

Small and lightweight, the Suunto X10 wrist-top computer watch combines an altimeter, barometer, compass, and GPS navigator, making it a terrific companion for outdoor enthusiasts of all stripes. The X10--which builds on Suunto's decade of experience in creating cutting-edge outdoor devices--stands above most other wrist-top computers thanks to its improved, faster GPS fixes. Even under heavy foliage, you can use the X10 to plot your treks, navigate to a certain spot, or get back to your car, all while keeping your hands free to hold a hiking stick or water bottle. Once back at home, you can share your treks on Google Earth, or use the Suunto Trek Manager PC software to create new routes and plan new journeys.
The Suunto X10 also includes a built-in altimeter, which displays your current altitude and your vertical ascent and descent rate. Accurate to within 30,000 feet, the altimeter is an extremely valuable tool for mountaineering, backcountry skiing, and wilderness travel. The altimeter contributes to your excursion in several ways. If you're standing on or near an obvious geographic feature, such as a ridge, trail, or creek, the altimeter can alert you to your current elevation and help you find your position on a topographic map. Similarly, if you plan on climbing a slope to a certain elevation and then traversing, the X10 can help you stay on course. And, of course, the X10 captures all your altitude information in its integrated logbook, making it easy to analyze your performance when creating a training routine.
The X10's barometer, meanwhile, measures and records air pressure to help you predict changing conditions--from sunny skies to hair-bending electrical storms. The barometer helps you decide whether to bring a soft shell or rain shell jacket when the skies look ominous, or even when to high-tail it back to the car. In general, low pressure brings inclement weather, while high pressure brings stability and clear skies. If you've arrived at camp and notice the pressure starting to plunge, it's probably a good idea to secure the tent and crawl in. Likewise, if you're on a climb, it would be prudent to find shelter and retreat. Even at home, the X10's barometer can look beyond office walls, skyscrapers, and nearby hills to help you plan for upcoming activities.
And no outdoor watch is worth its salt without a digital compass, a great tool for keeping track of your direction while skiing, hiking, or exploring a new city. Simply point the top of the watch toward your intended destination and lock it in. Other features include an Activity Mode that records your speed, distance, and altitude information, along with any memory points you define along the way; a Track Back mode that guides you back the same way you came; a long-lasting battery; up to 50 routes, 25 tracks, and 500 waypoints; water-resistance up to 330 feet; and all the standard watch functions, including a 12/24-hour display, a stopwatch, a calendar clock, and three daily alarms. As with all Suunto wrist-top computers, the X10 carries a two-year warranty.

About Suunto Suunto was founded in 1936 by outdoors man and a keen orienteering enthusiast, Tuomas Vohlonen, who had long been bothered by a problem: the inaccuracy of traditional dry compasses and their lack of steady needle operation. Being an engineer with an inventive turn of mind, he discovered and patented the production method for a much steadier needle, better readings, and a new level of accuracy.
By 1950 the company was exporting compasses to over 50 countries around the world, including Canada and the United States. In 1952, Helsinki was hosting the Olympic Games, and the torches carried to light the Olympic flame were Suunto products. The next step was improving the stability and accuracy of marine compasses. The first marine compass, the Suunto K-12, was launched onto the market in 1953. In 1957, Suunto started manufacturing hypsometers, which measure the height of trees.
In the 1960s, the compass range grew further and Suunto introduced its first diving compass--initiated by the divers themselves. A British sports diver attached a Suunto compass to his wrist and found that the device also worked underwater. Thanks to his feedback and initiatives, the new business category was found. Suunto's exports and business grew steadily and Suunto then focused on combining its strength in precision mechanics with new skills in electronics. Accuracy, reliability, and ruggedness have been Suunto's key values from the very beginning of the company history.
Today, Suunto is a leading designer and manufacturer of sports instruments for training, diving, mountaineering, hiking, skiing, sailing, and golf. True to its roots, Suunto is today the world's biggest compass manufacturer. Prized for their design, accuracy and dependability, Suunto sports instruments combine the aesthetics and functionality of watches with sport-specific computers that help athletes at all levels analyze and improve performance. Headquartered in Vantaa, Finland, Suunto employs more than 500 people worldwide and distributes its products to nearly 60 countries. The company is a subsidiary of Helsinki-based Amer Sports Corporation with the sister brands Wilson, Salomon, Atomic, Precor, and Mavic.

The Amazon product description is wrong. Some DUFUS borrowed the description from the GA-100-1A1 Ana-Digi, but this is the GD-100-1A.
The watch is part of the new "100" X-Large CASIO G-Shock line.
It has 4 time-zone screens in addition to the HOME screen (time-keeping mode)
It additionally has a WorldTime mode.
It does NOT have a SNOOZE alarm, but only 5 (Once, Daily) alarms.
It has a 24 hour Countdown Timer settable by HRS/MIN/SEC with 1/10th second readout precision.
It has a basic 24 HR 1/100th second StopWatch with Elapsed Time/Split Time/1st,2nd place finish)
It has Flash Alert, Auto-LED backlight & 31zone/48 city World Time. Manual DST (Daylight Savings Time) switching. Button-Tone On/Off
It has a wide 22mm strap with DUAL TANG buckle.

This watch is especially well-suited for anyone who travels the USA and wants to easily keep track of and switch between the four Eastern/Central/Mountain/Western time zones.

Suunto X10M Wrist-Top GPS Computer Watch with Altimeter, Barometer, Compass, and GPS Review

Suunto X10M Wrist-Top GPS Computer Watch with Altimeter, Barometer, Compass, and GPS
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This watch was a great purchase for the first few weeks that I had it; as far as functionality it has performed superbly. A few weeks after I purchased this watch (the X10 Military) I deployed to Iraq and planned on using this watch with my work in the Army here.
The watch has continued to serve fairly well, until I had about 2 months in country. The bezel/upper-case (a flexible rubber ring) is only attached by two rubber flanges that fit into the hard plastic body of the watch. First (at about 60 days) one of the flanges failed, then in another 30 days, the second flange failed. I have been able to superglue the bezel back onto the case (and probably voided the warranty, but I can't wait months to get this back and forth) but I am very dissapointed that a watch that cost me $500.00 USD and is listed as a "military" model, cannot handle exposure to the elements on my wrist for less than 3 months.
I think the concept and design of this watch is great, but I hope that Suunto is able to better incorporate some "painful" product testing before you market something to the military who will depend on it.

Tech4o Women's Accelerator Pulse - Watch

This watch is really nice looking and fits comfortably. The features are exactly as advertised. It is quite accurate, considering that it does not work on GPS. Yes, you may have to read the instructions to set it up, but there weren't any problems with it. It has a lot of really useful features and once it is set up, it is easy to use. I got this as a gift for my mom. She loves it! When we run races together, we test it against my Garmin and it seems accurate! (It is way cuter and smaller than my Garmin, which is a plus.)

Nike Unisex SM0019-001 Triax Elite Heart Rate Monitor Speed Distance Data Watch Review

Nike Unisex SM0019-001 Triax Elite Heart Rate Monitor Speed Distance Data Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I used Polar heart watches for years (nearly 20 years!) but (a) the infrared transfer of data between computer and watch is unreliable and (b) Polar doesn't make software for Apple Macintosh. So I was seduced to buy this top-end Nike watch.
The Nike software works on my Mac and the radio transfer works great (the pulsing blue receiver is cool, too!).
So, what's the problem???
The problem is that the Nike software is FAR more primitive than the Polar software. The watch can't track calorie burn, the graphing of data is extremely limited and, in general, the Polar software just provides a lot more exercise data, with more display options, than the Nike software.
I wrote to Nike with this feedback but they didn't reply.
The watch and the motion sensor work fine (the sensor is quite accurate). But if you are choosing between the top-end Polar and this Nike unit (and you are PC based, not Mac) go for the Polar watches.

Keep your training time on track as well as your fitness levels with the Nike Triax Elite HRM/SDM digital watch, which includes an easy-to-use heart rate monitor providing highly accurate heart rate and pace information. It also includes a foot-mounted speed and distance monitor. Its target training zones feature let you program your ideal heart and training zones, with alerts for when you are outside of the pre-set zone. Digital transmission provides accurate data in all environments, minimizing cross-talk from other wireless devices. You can also download/upload workout data and customized settings between the watch and your PC (Mac and Windows) with the included training software, which enables you to set goals, build training plans, log workouts and analyze results.
The Triax Elite has a 100-lap memory and a data mode that provides lap time, split time, average pace and average HR for each lap count. Other features include a stainless steel back, Nike Electrolite one-touch backlighting and water resistance to 50 meters (165 feet).
About Nike Nike watches are built to endure extreme outdoor conditions without missing a beat and they adhere to the company's founding mission statement: to bring inspiration and innovation to every athlete in the world. And as Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman would add--if you have a body, you're an athlete. Ever since the fateful day in 1971 when University of Oregon track coach Bowerman poured rubber into his wife's waffle iron, technological innovation has been the spark that lights Nike's fire. The Waffle outsole transformed the running world and soon after Nike Air evolved Nike's revolutionary impact on sports. Beyond shoes--from watches and eyewear to carry gear and even socks--Nike is committed to giving athletes of every make, model and body style, who compete and recreate in ways never before imagined, the very best performance product. Here are just a few important dates in Nike's journey:
American record-holder Steve Prefontaine becomes the first major track athlete to wear Nike brand shoes in 1973.
At the 1976 Olympic Trials, Nike shoes are seen in abundance for the first time--worn by young, rising stars in both middle- and long-distance events.
The first athlete to win an Olympic medal wearing Nike shoes is British runner, Steve Ovett in the 1980 Moscow Games
The Just Do It advertising campaign began in 1988, and is now ensconced in the Americana exhibit at the Smithsonian National Museum.

Bought this watch for running. I don't need a fancy GPS or Heart Monitor watch, but something with an alarm and stopwatch. So far this has worked great. Durable (got it wet a few times) and comfortable for running. Exactly what I needed and the price was really good. I recommend it.

Timex Men's T42761 Expedition Adventure Tech Digital Compass Watch Review

Timex Men's T42761 Expedition Adventure Tech Digital Compass Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a very fine watch that I got for navigating the dense woods behind our new house -- it's easy to get turned around.
First -- I can see how this band might not outlive a Redwood, but it's not something to panic over, as another reviewer here seems to have done. In fact, I did my "due diligence," went to Timex's website, and clicked on their official store link to try to see if new bands were available. I didn't see the band for this watch.
So, I fired off an email to Timex to ask this question -- if this band can't be replaced, the watch needs to be returned, so are replacement bands available? Here's the response I got in UNDER TWO HOURS:
"Thank you for your inquiry. You can call us at 1-800-448-4639 to order a replacement band for your watch. The cost will be $8.00-$12.00, plus any applicable tax. Please have your watch with you when you call. We sell band by the original style number of the watch, this is a replaceable band, I am not sure why the people you have mentions in the email did not call Timex to find out where to get the band. Voguestrap makes replacement bands, but not for unique watches like some of the newer Timex watches. You can order 42761 any time you need a new band."
Fears allayed. This is a fine watch. The 3 official alarms plus a timer alarm, hydration reminder for hiking, 5 "occasion" alarms should give even the most alarmed people enough to fiddle with. The ability to calibrate the watch to either Magnetic or True North is probably more than I need, but it's a nifty feature for the dedicated hiker.
The Indiglo on this watch seems to be a bit of a battery-saver type. It doesn't illuminate the skyline as some I've seen, but it does work well.Generally, the display is black on the LCD background, but pressing the Indiglo button changes the black to fluorescent blue -- not the background, just the displayed numbers and characters. Not usable as a flashlight, but nothing to scoff at and plainly visible. Also, if you hold down the Indiglo button, it turns on a "night" setting so that the Indiglo feature activates each time a button is pressed. Handy.
With 4 buttons (5 counting the Indiglo) to press for settings, it takes a little practice to remember which move the settings up, which down, and which from hour to minute to second, etc. But there's not a steep learning curve here as some have hinted in other reviews on other variants of this watch.
The buttons are a bit hard to press, and they're clearly designed to be pressed while there is some resistance against pressing them -- i.e., it is designed to be set while worn on the arm. I do a lot of free-handing these buttons to use the timer, etc., while wearing another watch, and I admit that they are a bit hard to press, and two hands are better than one. Nonetheless, I'm nitpicking here. All around, a very fine watch, even if the band is a bit fragile looking, though I've had it for 2 weeks now, and I can't say it's as fragile as I had feared by reading the other review.

So I started running again and wanted to get a good but inexpensive running watch. After doing some research, I chose the Timex Women's Ironman Triathlon Sleek 50/100 Watch. This was a great purchase. The watch is comfortable. The band helps prevent excessive sweating on the wrist. The numbers are large and easy to read when running a race or just during training.

Timex Ironman T5G311 Midsize Bodylink System Heart Rate Monitor Watch Review

Timex Ironman T5G311 Midsize Bodylink System Heart Rate Monitor Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had other heart rate monitors but have always had trouble with them which I attributed to my small frame. But this not only works beautifully, the GPS has added a whole new dimension to my training. It works great outdoors though admittedly did not get a signal on a run in the woods. In clear spaces on the road or on the water (I row) it works like a charm.
